NYMR Steam Railway
Pickering is home to the much acclaimed NYM Steam Railway, which runs from early March through to December. The annual calendar also sees many special events. Please refer to their web site for full details and ticket purchase.

Yorkshire Traction Engine Rally
The beautiful grounds of the Scampston Hall Estate has been the setting of the Yorkshrie Traction Engine Rally in recent years. Just a short drive from Pickering on the A64.
2024 Dates are Saturday 31st August & Sunday 1st September.

Dalby Forest - The Great Yorkshire Forest
Dalby Forest is a stunning place to visit for cycling and walking, or other family activities, including a Go Ape Tree Top Adventure.
The Forest hosts many events throughout the year, including a weekly Park Run. Lots of marked out walking and cycling routes to enjoy at your leisure, for all abilities.

Look out for local Farmers and Food Markets across the Ryedale area. Most of the Market Towns host weekly markets & monthly farmers markets.

Set across the streets of the market town of Malton, the Food Festivals are a celebration of the finest Yorkshire produce and cooking. Expect heaving stalls, delicious street food, talks, tastings, celebrity chefs, demos, loads of music and much, much more!

Castle Howard House & Gardens
CASTLE HOWARD HOUSE & GARDENS EVENTS
Castle Howard is one of the Country's & Europe's grandest stately homes, set in 1000 acres of grounds and gardens and it’s just on our doorstep. The House & Gardens make a fabulous day out for all the family. They also host many events & concerts throughout the year, including a weekly Saturday morning Park Run.
The Gardens have re-opened at Castle Howard with a booking system in place - see their web site for details. Their farm shop is also open.

Ryedale Folk Museum

Ryedale Festival
Running Annually over the course of the last 2 weeks of July. Events range far and wide across the Ryedale area, with Pickering Kirk Theatre being a key hosting venue. The festival enjoys an international reputation, with performers travelling from all over the world.
