About Us

As active and enthusiastic walkers and cyclists ourselves, and with a real passion for the area we live in (Pickering and surrounding North York Moors National Park), we would be delighted to help you with any information you may need in regard to areas and routes for walking or cycling, places of historic interest to visit, and towns and cities in the North Yorkshire region which are of interest for shopping and visitor attractions.

We are more than happy to help you plan your days out, so please ask at the time of booking. We also provide plenty of reference materials in the cottage. Our Facebook & Instagram pages contain information about the local area, and  cycling & walking routes we have discovered, with something for all abilities to enjoy.

We are passionate about the area and environment in which we live. We do our best to source all our food and house-hold produce as responsibly as possible, minimising our environmental footprint. We grow some of our own food as organically as we can. All our non meat food waste is recycled for composting in the garden.

We recycle wherever possible and have a recycling process for the cottage, with full instructions in the Guest Information Pack.

The Cottage boiler and heating system has been fully upgraded, to high efficiency systems reducing our energy use. We have a log burning stove using locally sourced sustainable wood supplies. We use low energy light bulbs throughout Eden House. Eden House benefits from double glazing in most areas (Grade II listing prevents this on the ground floor windows) and loft insulation throughout. We have purchased new kitchen appliances with energy efficiency in mind.

We hope that you will assist us in protecting the environment, and follow our recycling process for the cottage which requires the recycling of glass & bottles, all plastic containers, tin cans & all paper and cardboard – we provide recycling containers for this.
