CASTLE HOWARD HOUSE & GARDENS 2018 EVENTS
Castle Howard is one of the Countries grandest stately homes, set in 1000 acres of grounds and gardens and it’s just on our doorstep. The House & Gardens make a fabulous day out for all the family. They also host many events & concerts throughout the year.

Ryedale Traditional Jazz Festival- July 2018

YORKSHIRE GAME & COUNTRY FAIR - 19th & 20th MAY 2018
Returns in 2018 to Scampston Hall, just a short drive from Pickering. DALBY FOREST OUTDOOR CONCERTS JUNE 2018
Wonderful open air concerts in this stunning forest location just 3 miles from Pickering.
Don’t miss out, book your accommodation early to avoid disappointment. The Forest also hosts many other event throughout the year, including a weekly Park Run. Lots of marked out walking and cycling routes to enjoy at your leisure, for all abilities.

Pickering 1940’s Wartime Weekend
Dates announced for the 2018 event are from:
Friday 12th to Sunday 14th October 2018
Take a step back in time for this annual event, which sees visitors from far and wide. Events, Music, special events at the Steam Railway, lots of activities in the Town, special stalls. Vintage vehicle parade, pedestrian parade. So much to do and see, it really is a feast for the eyes and senses.
Malton Food Festival - 26th & 27th May 2018
Set across the streets of the market town of Malton, the Food Lovers Festival is a celebration of the finest Yorkshire produce and cooking. The 2018 festival is set to be the biggest yet. Food stalls, delicious street food, talks, tastings, celebrity chef demos, cookery lessons and much much more. Also you can enjoy craft beers and cider at the festival bar, live music at the festival party and family entertainment for all. An amazing two days not to be missed.
Just a short drive, bus ride or cycle from Pickering so why not book a break to enjoy the Food Festival and what Pickering has to offer.

There are many amazing Country Shows & Fairs in the Ryedale villages and across the North York Moors National park, over the Spring and Summer months. Dates for some of the larger shows are listed below:

Pickering is a great location for amazing cycling and walking routes. We have routes we have tried, which we can recommend to our guests, to suit all abilities. You can hire cycles in Pickering or in Dalby Forest, or bring your own, we have plenty of secure storage. There are a number of local walking groups also who offer guided walks throughout the year.
We have Dalby Forest on our doorstep which has miles and miles of marked walk and cycle routes for all abilities and caters for disabled access also. Look for the Great Yorkshire Forest.
We have a good selection of maps, walking & cycling books and reference materials for guests to use.

Pickering is a Nationally recognised walking location, having been awarded the Walkers are Welcome status as a Town.
Pickering hosts an annual Walking Festival, which, each year is becoming more and more popular, attracting visitors from far and wide. See our Events listing for Walking Festival dates.
Pickering is ideally situated within the North York Moors National Park, to enjoy an abundance of walking within the North York Moors National Park, Dalby Forest, and Coastal walking around areas such as Whitby, Robinhood’s Bay, Staithes, and Scarborough.
There are a number of long distance walks to enjoy in the area including the Cleveland Way, the famous Coast to Coast which finishes in Robin Hood’s Bay, and the Wolds Way.
Pickering has many footpaths and routes which start in Pickering, so no need to take your car anywhere!
Andy and Emma are keen cyclists and can provide information about routes in the area. Just let us know ahead of your stay.
Dalby Forest is the home to many road, track and off road cycle routes and is famous for its mountain biking in particular.
There are many Cycle Sportives in the region and a number of the National Cycle Routes also, which are clearly marked.
Pickering would be an ideal base for those wishing to explore North Yorkshire and Ryedale by bicycle.
